Production Diary - Session 41

Our last filming day! (We hope!)

Today the girls, Josh and I met at Jodie's at 9am and after tea and toast we filmed our arguing dinner table shots from our original storyboard, we have chosen to keep the first verse as her 'reality' and use a range of shots to show how unhappy she is (ripping photo, arguing dinner shots, taking off ring, smashed wine bottle, crying) and have it in black and white and then the rest of the video in colour and have Josh in a mask to show that he is her fantasy relationship. We put a duvet down to catch the bottle when Josh hit it across the table and smashed it outside and just placed it on the floor with Ribena round it to make it look realistic. To get real emotion we had Paris and Josh really yelling at each other - I reckoned it was quite therapeutic!

After we shot the 'Love Actually' scene and we absolutely loved it! We shot it with Josh wearing the mask and although it looked quite creepy it did give the abstract effect we was going for. We also had to film me laughing/smiling that 'Prince Charming' had come to my door with these placards declaring his love for me. This was easily achieved by Josh dancing around with the mask still on and wearing Jodie's furry gloves!

We then packed up the car and went over to South Weald Park again to shoot 'lovey dovey' scenes of Josh and Paris to use in our video. We did shoot the 'Notebook' scene but all agreed that we didn't really love it. We also tried the 'Say I'm A Bird scene' by the lake and may use that. Failing all this we will just be using the Alice in Wonderland scenes we shot on Wednesday for the second chorus - we are just going to wait till its all been captured and then as a group decide on which looks best to use. We shot more than enough which was good and left us feeling incredibly confident.

Back at home after, we filmed a reverse shot which was my idea. For the lyric 'If stars don't align', we made a heart shape out of confetti and then blew it to break it up, during post production we plan to edit this and see what we can do with it in terms of reversing it. We also shot Paris's pocket watch which flips open (this links back to the Alice idea (White Rabbit 'I'm late') ) to perhaps use on the line 'If it doesn't stop time'.
We also took some beauty shots of Paris for our Digi Pack and made a rough copy with ideas for which photos are to go where and our final list of songs. We have also come up with our CD title ... 'IF', we've chosen this as its basically Imogen Fall's initials and were going for a fairytale themed Digi pack as we plan to use the Alice shots and the shots with the Snow White doll and our list of songs reflect this.
